3 stars CAPILLARY ACTION had a nice little career. Based in Seattle they played a lot of live shows over the years, plus they released three studio albums starting with their debut in 2004 called "Fragments". "So Embarrassing" is album number two from 2008, while "Capsized" was released in 2011. They play an avant/math style of music with vocals, lots of short, energetic tunes. And so you see math-pop associated with this album. I wish they used the original artwork on the site here. So funny, is what that is, this present cover art replaced it when they re-issued it. They re- issued this?

We get eleven songs over 31 plus minutes. And they are a four piece of bass, guitar, keyboards and drums. We get guest horns and strings to fill out the sound. The guitarist is the singer and composer. His voice I'd describe as lame sounding but I think that's on purpose, that avant direction. A lot of noise on this album but contrasted usually with the mellow sections and those vocals.

I was tired of this after the first track, worn out already. Those vocals, so embarrassing indeed. There's not a lot to hang my hat on here, not much at all. I like that powerful section 4 minutes in on the closer "Self-Released". The guitar on "The Chaperone" is interesting, whacked out. This is not close to being my music, and 3 stars is being generous. I do think it's cool that they've played live with CHEER ACCIDENT and RUINS though.
