4 stars It's a pity that this album has gone unnoticed from the prog fans. I was very lucky to bump into a review about it. In the beggining everything was disjointed in my mind, but I had this feeling that I should revisit it instead of chucking it once and for all. Out of the blue, one day the first track started to click. Then I moved to the second, then the third...Kaleidoreal is a guitar-oriented prog band and it makes sense since the guitarist Lars Granat is the guy who put together this group. Lars pulls a GREAT tone out of his guitar, although the rest of the band members are no shirkers. The first track, the epic A Life Wasted Part 1 ranks among the best songs I've heard so far for 2018. Its 19 minutes go by in a flash, full of marvellous guitar playing and beautiful, very beautiful piano themes. Did I say that Lars plays the piano, too? This guy is a real talent and he also mixed and mastered the album! I Was Dust and Yellow and Blue are magnificent tracks too. Kaleidoreal use odd meters to spice up the interest and carry on going through multiple themes effortlessly. In Ozone the guitar takes a break and the piano leads this ballad before the final track comes in. It starts very promisingly, but in my view it is not as captivating as the first part. If it shared its quality, I would have no reservation in saying that it is one of the most interesting prog albums. But, I truly urge all prog fans to look into it and draw their own conclusions.
