Hybrid, another new hardcore technical death metal band, has tried to make a name for themselves in the death metal scene. In my opinion, they did not do so good a job. I'm not just a prog head who doesn't think death metal belongs on this website, Opeth and Meshuggah are two of my favorite bands. This band just doesn't cut it. At all. There really isn't much to say about any of this music. They even try to fit jazz fusion into Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, which doesn't work. The vocals are atrocious, even as death metal vocals go. The singer attempts to reach depths that he cannot reach. The one good thing is that you can actually hear changes in the guitarists' notes rather than just a mess of really low and distorted gravel. Technical? Sure. Progressive? Just barely. The album, in short, is not good.
