5 stars This is both a courageous and adventurous album because it embraces jazz, eastern influences, avant guard rock, pop melodies, progressive rock and experimentation acrobatics. Maybe this is too much for a pair of ears to absorve but -as the ratings prove- the progressive (and not only) music lover can find here pure, genuine pleasure. This is a set of great compositions with clever turns and brilliant, well-balanced use of instruments! You can find a few elements of 70's avant garde (Picchio Dal Pozzo-like), fusion a-la Jean Luc Ponty as well as Zappa-isms, but Frogg Cafe play in a way that you can immediately tell that this is a modern recording. There are also some moments (within the album's 77 minutes!) when post year 2000 great bands like 3RDegree, Uzva, Tortoise or Jaga Jazzist come to mind in a way that gives you hope for the future of progressive rock music. These gentlemen let their ideas evolve. They don't rush things. In conclusion, this is a special album that provides high quality music, but my 5 stars go mostly to the fact that it is a living proof that great music is not something that only happened in the past.
