ART MOULU

As an example of the most classic side of avant garde, Art Moulu music is like clockwork. Very complex rhythmical sections are the perfect background for sax and keyboards impros, experiments and solos which build a strange, excentric and obscure piece of music leaded by the impressive work of Jo Thirion on vocals.

Not much surprises on the 11 tracks of the album perhaps there are some great songs such as the opener "Les Reines Du Porno" full of constant and surprising changes; the complex and twisted "Méat Coule Pas"; "Chanson Puor Le Travail", a piece which even reminds me some of the minimalist works made by Robert Fripp on "The League Of Gentlemen"; and "Le Parolier Et La Part Au Lion", an excentric, dark and hard piece that will be a delight for any RIO fan.

Even when most of the songs are aligned with pure avant garde, following the formulas of the genre, this highlights mark the difference into this underrated album and turns this release a piece of colection for any prog music fan. 3+*...
