![]() Here, she has seamlessly blended her understanding of traditional Indian classical music with jazz, fusion, funk and even Prog Metal (!) styles to produce a firey album that has lots of bite. It's a blinding display of tight playing and blazing virtuosity, and, indeed, she's an amazing player in the mould of Jaco Pastorius, Mark King (one of her main slap influences), and Victor Wooten. On this, her first solo outing, she shows that she's equally at home with funky, polyrhythmic slapping and melodious, sonorous solo lines. She's also very adept of using different bass pedals and effects to drastically change the sound of her bass, which leads to unusual and interesting bass textures. The album also features an impressive list of guest musicians on drums and guitar. A well-deserved four stars.
