ON THE SUNDAY OF LIFE...

This is PT's (well SW's anyway) answer to Floyd's Atom Heart Mother. In both cases, died in the wool fans will not be able to marry up work of this pre-era, a time BEFORE their fav band became the bees knees of prog; they will dismiss these early contributions and move on. But wait, stop .... in both cases they are critically wrong. Listened to with an open mind, there is plenty of prog to be found in these genius genesis works and they should not be dismissed so lightly. I worked my way through the entire PT canon, coming lastly to OTSOL and boy was I impressed .. you can feel so many seminal influences here .. ok not as polished in in Deadwing etc. but definitely there. Also you can feel a free flowing experimental Steven Wilson exploring soundscapes and ideas .. it's an absolute joy to hear. My advice to those not yet hearing this: go in with an open mind, forget PT as the author band and just enjoy the music - you will not be disappointed.
