2 stars Karfagen's "The Sandpipers Symphony" is a solid release that blends new tracks with alternate versions of previously released material. All of the tracks were recorded between 2010 and 2017, showcasing a wide variety of sounds and textures. The new songs (1-7) are particularly strong, offering impressive musicianship and songwriting, while also referencing and expanding on ideas from earlier albums. However, the remaining tracks, though still interesting for fans of Antony Kalugin's work, don't quite measure up to his more essential releases. While The Sandpipers Symphony is an enjoyable listen, it may not have the lasting impact of a truly groundbreaking Antony Kalugin album. It's a good addition for genre enthusiasts, but it may not resonate as deeply with those seeking something more revolutionary from the band.
