5 stars Univers Zero do it again!!! Admittedly, I haven't heard the two right before this release, Clivages will prove to be one Denis' best output of his career. One of the fathers of RIO, they never seem to disappoint. Very intricate, moody, classical-oriented, jazz-oriented at times, Fantastic compositions, Hitchcock Soundtrack-esque, emotionally dense, dark, intense, I could go on and on with adjectives. This is the type of music you experience while you're listening. Not passive listening. If you are a fan of chamber rock with Bartok and Stravinsky influences and a sprinkle of free jazz here and there, this is for you. There are even some major scaled tracks served up here, so it's not all dark and ominous, letting you come up for air every now and again. One of the top 3 of 2010 for sure. Do it.
