APRICITY

This is the first Syd Arthur album I've written about, but you could probably apply what I say to the rest of their albums as well. In my mind, they get a "5" for originality which is a very rare thing in prog these days, where even the highly rated albums on this site have people saying "hey that's a great album but it's just not quite [you fill in the rest]..." The only thing stopping me from saying it's a 4.5 would be the inconsistency. The albums are indeed short and some of the tracks are weaker than others. So, plug this record in and start with the songs "Seraphim" and "Apricity". You won't be disappointed. A few reviewers are sinking into this "prog/not prog" debate which is a surprise to me, like, didn't we go through that whole debate with Kansas (poor Kansas). Anyway I give this and their other albums 4 stars, and I don't give a full 4 often.
