3 stars It's 2022 as I write this and 80's music is popular again. Not that I would expect this to be heard on the radio, but those sounds that made us cringe in the 90's are again acceptable. Gated reverb drums, plastic sounding synths, slick production, etc. So then this sounds okay again. There are some decent tunes here, but nothing amazing. Nice playing is sprinkled throughout, like the bass solo in The Factory Man, those horn parts all over, and some nice guitar and keyboard solos. If you're not a jazz/rock or fusion fan, there's little here to entice you. There seems to be less of a "we really like Weather Report" vibe, like on Sea Reflections, for better or worse. Overall, I find it quite listenable, but not thoroughly engaging. Background prog.
