I am not sure if all of the music on this album was done without the tongue firmly in cheek. Some of this album sounds like an internal joke within the band.

The music here is something between baroque music, psychedelic, proto-prog and symphonic prog. It is pretty similar to Gentle Giant in one respect. That is, without the GG's normally high quality. Some of the music on this albums is more like sound collages where one strip of music is attached to another strip of music without much coherence. This album feels a bit disjointed.

There is some good music here though. The Dream is bordering to superb with the associations to Egg and the Canterbury scene. The other songs are not too bad, but I feel this album is a debut album where ideas is being tested. Some of them fails, some of them succeed. That is what debut albums is about. I think this is a good album, but nothing more.

3 stars (barely)
