4 stars Well, this is where the Motorpsycho adventure really started. While the two first albums (Lobotomizer and 8 Soothing Songs For Rut) showed promise and potential, they were still merely lightweight and straightforward compared to what Demon Box would bring.

As always, the vinyl version has 3 more songs compared to the CD. Basically, Bent, Snah, Gebhardt & Deathprod pushed forward the boundaries for what bands could allow themselves to present on ONE album. Because this one certainly has quite a lot: Singalong grunge-rockers (Nothing To Say, Sunchild, Junior), unpolished death metal (Feedtime, Gutwrench, Sheer Profoundity), acoustic folk-prog stuff (Waiting For The One, Tuesday Morning, Come On In) and massive heavy epics (Mountain, the title track and Plan #1). Add some electronic experiments, a Moondog cover and a straightforward punk song and you got this album.

The reason I can't give this album a top rating is because some of these songs just haven't aged well or having any lasting qualities that makes me like them now 17 years after release. The album actually has more historic importance for me now than actual high-quality Motorpsycho-classics.

But it is a good album with its fair share of great material. And a solid foundation for a very prolific and productive career!
