DEEP PURPLE IN CONCERT

This 2 cd's set released in 1980, for sure is a great occasion to hear Deep Purple Mark II classic lineup gracing us with two different powerful performances. If it's not good as "Made In Japan", which is of course the highest peak, probably ever touched by a live record, it's surely very close to it. Among others, one of the reasons which make this record slightly slightly less effective is Gillan's voice which doesn't seem at his best ever, anyway his performance despite his lack of perfection, a huge strenght point in "Made In Japan" instead, is very convincing, especially on "Strange Kind Of Woman"; Now can we blame someone for lack of perfection? Surely no. In the end there's no so much to say in terms of track listing: it spans trough "In Rock" and "Machine Head", actually disc 2 is almost its live rendition. As I said before the band's in great shape and if you're a fan, you'll get what you know so well: awesome "duel" between Blackmore's guitar and Lord's hammond organ, very long improvised bits and a thick, heavy wall of sound. A great live record and a great occasion to enjoy Deep Purple's Mark II undeniable musical talent.
