MENTAL FRACTURE Israeli prog metal rock band, inspired by DREAM THEATER, PORCUPINE TREE, MUSE, HAKEN, TESSERACT, LEPROUS, TOOL and the SKY ARCHITECT that I had the pleasure of reviewing elsewhere; its fresh rock, pop, jazzy at times; sound on the verge of rupture, complex, energetic, baroque, tormented dissonance. A crazy rock merging metal with rock on the one hand, jazz-rock with various folk scents, a mental fracture (perhaps there the explanation of the name).

'Echo of a Heartbeat' melodic intro, crystalline on a small solo which warms the ears with a rhythmic bass, cinematographic air from the violin, a sound reminding me from afar of the LIGHT DAMAGE for this marshmallow sound which makes you melt. 'Summer Dies' conventional prog rock, nostalgic touch and Ori's voice well in place, piano flirting with bossa nova jazz rock; watch out just the impression of the playful guitar solo that comes on suddenly, fresh, dynamic in mid-tempo; break pads with lush violin-guitar declination, art rock as we wish to hear more often. 'Goodbye Forever' texts on mourning and its intractable malaise, music on the same notion, between cinematic beauty and stress of notes and opposing voices; between metal opera and pop à la Muse with an incisive solo synth. 'Hello' avant-garde rock title with rupture and jerky breaks, staccato atmosphere, fresh title with Yogev again as guitar hero. 'Concrete Wall' airy pop air where the piano serves as the basis for a fruity moment, a bit of XTC, title on communication problems; it goes to a heavy djent riff with the jazzy piano that hangs up on aerial rock; strange, innovative and syncopated à la ZAPPA; Ori's tenor voice is reminiscent of LEPROUS. 'Inception of Fear' rave old-school riff and organ intro for an exploration of 2020 rock. It's fresh with overloops, diverse and unexpected breaks, squeaky guitar, screeching vocals and muffled organ; it's going up, it's diversifying, we don't know which ear to turn to; the fun finale. 'Disaccord' thunderous intro oriental folklo moving, jazzy then with a piano coming to throw even more confusion; riff and synth squirting everywhere its colorful notes, the instrumental that definitely melts me because innovative and fresh. 'Clockwork' returns to a complex, syncopated, dynamic metal rock, on TESSERACT and TERRAMAZE for a time, the imposing bass punctuating this piece with the contribution of the twirling guitars. Ori raises her voice then her keyboard keys, Yogev adds more, that's the ultimate jazzy break with Hai and Philip who are having a great time, the track of the album. 'Hearts of Stone' as conclusion, voice that draws on THE DARKNESS, the madness of a QUEEN, musical waves with baroque guitar à la MALMSTEEN on one side and plaintive guitar à la LIGHT DAMAGE on the other, the slap merely.

MENTAL FRACTURE blew me away; with an impression of variegated metal rock without too much flavor and full of reminiscences, successive listenings made me change my mind; varied tracks, great instrumental tracks, a real inventive melting pot where the melodies are very varied and turn your head in the right musical direction; a classico-metallo-jazzy-rock prog fusion that only needs a little brother soon.
