There are no other albums like this one. That much is an observable fact. Taking traditional Chinese opera and mangling it into something between ambient, industrial and jazz rock is an absolutely ridiculous concept, and at points it definitely works. I just think I have to be in a particular mood to enjoy this one - the same mood that would accompany a record like Kayo Dot's Choirs of the Eye. It's dense, detailed, aggressive, surreal and utterly punishing, but if you're in the mood for something like that it can be excellent. But if not, the flurry of noise and chaos can just go in one ear and out the other, without leaving much of an impression.
