I believe it was Tolstoy who said art should make you feel like the creator of it when the art was being created (I think). If this is the case, Peter Gabriel must be getting very old. The dirge like vacant arrangements on this album succeed in making a die hard Progressive Rock / Genesis fan feel nothing more than OLD.

I personally think Peter Gabriel has given up. His imagination which was the most vibrant and creative in the early days has turned into some pompous recycling factory. The choices of songs seem rushed. The arrangements sound like the same arrangements for each song. Even the songs which should have some power are sapped of all their feeling. Mr. Gabriel seems to be like a spirit vampire on this outing. Simply put, this sounds like funeral music for all the musicians he covered.

I'm not impartial to an orchestral album. Some orchestral redo's from genre can be very enjoyable. This is just TOO MUCH of NOT ENOUGH.

I can only hope Peter Gabriel finds that spark that I believe is still within his creative pool and creates something that invokes his past, otherwise all hope is lost.

In summary, send this legendary wielder of imagination and creativity a message and DO NOT purchase this album.
