CAPTAIN BEYOND

One of the early 70s hidden pearls. Heavy-edged, dark and sometimes complex melodies performed with a rather unusual attack. Very close to ordinary heavy-music, mostly because of the band wanting to get a rather dark, thundering atmosphere I guess. But don't be fooled by this, time-signatures and the variety on this debut are rich, demanding and a great concept-album. I don't know if the bands intention was to make a concept-album, but it sure feels like it on its journey containing 35 minutes of music. Ok, way too short actually, but who cares as long as the quality hits you almost every minute. Things Ive heard from the group later on are not even close to this debut-album. Fans of prog.metal especially will love it and anyone into good prog.music should take their hat off. Great stuff
