4 stars Now what?! is a product of its time and age. The band now playing together in this lineup for a decade had decided to leave safe waters embrace more progressive rock/metal while remaining rooted in rock and hard rock. Songs are mid or slowly-paced and chaps know how to be effective without playing over the top focusing on the sound, chemistry and motives. Compositions are solid and already after the first listen, you'll have melodies or rhythms remaining in your memory. Airey proves to be a versatile keyboard player. Gillan knows how to sing with the aged voice to give the best voice colour to their fans. I ignore the more mellow and straightforward songs and concentrate on hard rocking and progressive-metal/rock compositions which are pretty well constructed to remain catchy. Kudos for trying a bit different direction and offering a tasty product once again.
