NARROW-CASTER

This album showcases a group that loves clean, ear friendly melody lines and choruses, balanced instrumentation, mid tempo songs, restrained (and few) solos and nostalgic-feeling tunes. 3Rdegree seem to built their songs around mr Dobbs' distinctive voice and compositions support all vocal parts which are top notch indeed. I would say that 'Narrow-caster" leans toward the pop side of art rock, which is not a bad thing at all, as it provides beautiful melodies all the way. My 4 stars rating is for their honesty, the guitar and keyboard melodies, the tight rhythm section, the vocal harmonies and the production, although after the more complex and groovy "Apophenia" one would expect something more "crazy" and less restrained to follow.
