4 stars Because of the high output of recordings both live and from the studio as well as the astronomical amount of personel changes it might be difficult for the listener at first to acquaint themselves with this unusual band. This reviewer's suggestion is to take them one step at a time. An highly anthologized catologue adds to the confusion. Squables with record companies also precluded certain tracks to be included on individual compilations. Road Hawks was the first anthology and represents their work for United Artists Records up to that stage and provides the listener a good introduction to the band. It has a variety of live and studio material. Very representitive of this space rock band in it's formative years. You might have to dig in the second hand shops for this one . The original pressing had a poster of the artwork on the cover. It ends off with an amazing live version of their only commercial hit Silver Machine not available on any other album. I have to give this one a 4.
