3 stars This is Caravan but not Canterbury Scene?

The music here is more Progressive Rock in a very literal way I don't think many bands actually explored despite the being called "Rock" bands. Pye Hastings delivers stronger vocals than he ever has, really sounding quite rock'n roll. Track one pretty much establishes the albums style which is maintained with some shortcuts, so if you like that track you'll enjoy the rest. For me I don't enjoy the song. There are some songs I do like, Be Alright (Chance of a Lifetime) and the closing suite which harkens back to lovelier pastures.

Overall this album is okay, to much mediocrity dated to the albums era. A lot of Hastings work to me has always taken to much of the era lamer influence and sounds dated. Definitely better then the post Dunstan albums which become truly mediocre albums devoid of quality. For me this album is good but not essential, there are better albums like this I'd recommend over it (Yonin Bayashi's Issoku Sokuhatsu). 3/5
