HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN GRILL

In 1974, Hawkwind had gone through several Line-up-Changes, but they had also been succesful with their previous albums, mostly with the "Space Ritual" Live LP. Due to excessive touring, Hawkwind were only able to go into studio for a very short time, but this hadn't affected the " Mountain Grill"-Album. It still sounds great. Hawkwind isnt't as psychedelic as on "In Search..." or on "Doremi..." and has gone more Hardrock-like, but still sounds originally as Hawkwind. We find a lot of great songs on this album. The best are: 1. Psychedelic Warlords: Hard but psychedelic! 2. Wind of Change. instrumental, sounds like "2001" in music, featuring all kinds of instruments hawkwind are able to play, especially synthies, organ and mellotron 3. Hall of the Mountain Grill: Even better than Wind of Change, giving an impression of a mystical atmosphere 4. Lost Johnny: A cool Hard rock song, later on covered by Motörhead (as you know, Lemmy was in Hawkwind this time) and featuring a cool drive beat. Sounds like Deep Purple on LSD. 5. Paradox: BEST song of the whole album, summarizing everything Hawkwind is able to do. It's a classic, along with "In Search..." and "Doremi...".
