4 stars I admit I have particularly fond memories of this album. It was the very first album I ever heard when I was probably about ten and I remembering playing it non stop.I still think the opening track "No Reply"at just over two minutes is one of their best ever pre "Revolver" recordings. The middle eight is just perfect."I'm a Loser"and "Baby's In Black" are also great tunes in a broody sort of way.The only really well known original song on the album is "Eight Days A Week" and the only one to grace the classic "Red Album" and is another beautifully crafted gem.The album is also home to the original "Every Little Thing" and I must admit it is quite slight compared to the bombastic prog-out version Yes produced a few years later.Of the six cover versions on the album the best is by far their version of Chuck Berry's "Rock and Roll Music" but the group really hits rock bottom with a horrible version of "Mr Moonlight" featuring a particularly cheesy organ solo by McCartney.Despite that I still love this album even though it is not widely regarded

4 stars
