TIME AND A WORD

I would like to give this one a 4,5 star really. In my opinon it's very underrated album. The use of orchestra was very bold move from the young band, tried around the time by Moody Blues (with orchestral parts added afterwards) or Deep Purple, but I think it's Yes who managed to incorporate the orchestral sound the best of them all. I wound gladly hear the orchestral parts used even more often, but it must wait untill brilliant "Magnification" album :) The style of the band is not yet crystalised as there is still strong hammond presence (which is a nice thing btw) and the overall sound is a bit dirty but the compositions are much more complex (look at the amazing minisuite "Then" or any other track) and the rhythm section is insane - Squire and Bruford are already at their trademark Yes-y sound. Brilliant! I love the melodies beautifuly lead by Anderson supported by strings. Not a weak track and many very strong ones Oh and I have an impression Anderson's voice is particulary "smoky" on this record, which I simply adore! One of their best.
