This is great!

After several unsuccessful and frankly not very good albums YES published "Magnification" in 2001, an album that recovers a little of YES classic sound of the seventies but with an undeniable and very fresh 21st-century style.

The absence of Rick WAKEMAN and in general any keyboard player doesn't affect a lot the sound of the album: the orchestral arrangements in the vein of "Time and a Word" fill those spaces quite nicely. The songs are very soft and romantic, but still the intense guitar, bass, and drums make it rockier than some of the previous albums of the band. "Magnification", "Spirit of survival" and "In the presence of" are amazing rock songs that create a half classic YES half new century YES highly recommended if you like their 1971-1978 albums.

Not a classic album, not absolutely indispensable but not at all bad either.

SONG RATING: Magnification, 4 Spirit of survival, 4 Don't go, 3 Give love each day, 3 Can you imagine? 4 We agree, 4 Soft as a dove, 4 Dreamtime, 4 In the presence of, 5

PERCENTAGE: 77.78

ALBUM RATING: 4 stars
