5 stars PURE REASON REVOLUTION: Here is the sixth album (4 long-lasting albums + 2 EP) by the British-German group PURE REASON REVOLUTION. A return after almost 10 years of silence which is more than welcome! It's full of nods to their past as a group but also as individuals with their respective projects.

The album begins with the track "New Obsession": with an intro made of media sounds on a musical background of keyboards, we embark on a heavy, almost military rhythm. Then we hear the nasal and familiar voice of Jon COURTNEY who calls out to us with his little 'I-don't care' side that comes out. The more crystalline voice of Chloë ALPER comes to reduce the dark effect of the voice of her colleague, a bit like in the group EVANESCENCE. The style is just a bit like the band mentioned above but with the PRR signature. The ensemble of "Silent Genesis" tends more towards the ALAN PARSONS PROJECT of the first albums crossed with PROFESSOR TIP TOP: keyboards, guitar and vocals on a slow but catchy rhythm and more percussive ends. Mr. COURTNEY's song looks a bit like Xavier PHIDEAUX's on this piece and Ms. ALPER's voice still strikes the perfect balance. It hits us the way we like (anyway, how I like it!) For 1 to 3 minutes from the end and they do the same thing again for the last minute! The ten minutes and a few seconds skyrocket. The music and the style of "Maelstrom" goes towards an accessible Rock resembling the groups WHITE WILLOW or a bit THE REASONING; short and efficient.

The surprising "Ghosts & Typhoons" is dark and mysterious with a style resembling PHIDEAUX crossed with PINK FLOYD and ALAN PARSONS PROJECT, seasoned with LEPROUS! It goes from ethereal to Grunge through Pop-Prog and Symphonic. In short, it's good !!! Then "Beyond Our Bodies", like "Maelstrom", is a short piece which is very similar to the style of the group WHITE WILLOW but with PRR sauce. The title track "Eupnea" is the main piece of the album. A 2-minute FLOYDien debut then takes us to the two accomplices singing in unison on a guitar background which is reminiscent of FLEETWOOD MAC (Breaking The Chain). They then increase the pace for 20 seconds before ... nothing! It falls back to a softer, almost ethereal style for about two minutes. We then have the right to an amalgam of styles: sometimes Rock, sometimes Grunge, sometimes more Symphonic Rock and sometimes Psychedelic, almost Space Rock. It closes the album with force.

It's a comeback with splendor for PURE REASON REVOLUTION! Those who were bored of the group will have their ears full! Those who don't know them ... what are you waiting for? Discover and enjoy!
