EUPNEA

EUPNEA is Pure Reason Revolution returning back to its roots. After a 10 years break, Chloe Alper and John Courtney new effort brings back the band to its trademark elements: Space Rock with great use of vocal harmonies, catchy choruses, grunge beats and heavy guitars. Fans of "The Dark Third" will be very pleased with EUPNEA , where most of the electronic elements from the later albums are gone and the songwriting couldn't be more proggy.

This is not, however, just a rehash from their first release. Eupnea is PRR at its best, their sound is a lot more mature, the songwriting is tighter and the instrumentation is much more refined. There's a bigger presence of keyboards and guitar solos and complex passages, especially compared with their previous efforts.

"The Silent Genesis" and "Eupnea" are two must listen tracks and PRR instant classics, with their uneven structure that will require multiple listens. "New Obsessions" is a strong opener that mix well Floydian atmosphere, industrial elements and a weird little guitar solo at the end. "Maelstorm" and "Beyond our Bodies" explores the beautiful side of the band, using really beautiful vocal harmonies.

Definitely their most solid, proggy and mature record. A must listen for modern prog fans that also enjoys bands like PINK FLOYD, PORCUPINE TREE, IQ, RIVERSIDE, HAKEN, etc.
