3 stars TRAPPIST SYSTEM TRIO is a trio of Russian musicians releasing their 1st CD after an EP last year. Two of the compositions are on it, it is a bit of a very oily and oily ode to the famous Belgian Trappist beer Chimay not to mention it, with which they must have fallen in love. The deployed genre comes from experimental rock, with a hard rock base, guitars often put forward for a very heavy and fat sound. Adding vocals is not essential in my opinion, given the riffs deployed. In fact, there is a bit of thrash metal, a bit of post rock stoner which, mixed together, gives a well structured heavy sound. The titles apart from the 1st "The Enlightened" of 8 minutes stay around the 4 minutes to develop a sound at the same time stubborn and at times a little psyche, and it is during the orchestral breaks that we get the most account for that. The voice remains in my opinion the weak point with a chopped text, not necessarily in phase with the organization of the titles offered, except during the more spleen and post titles. A little effort could have been given despite everything to the musical framework which is felt by the trio. To note on "Zombie Thrash" and "Dogmann" the use of a sax, reminding me a little of the jousts of PANZERBALLETT, then we start of course with avant garde music, see on the current cleared by a certain ZAPPA. A sound that finally requires a bit of musical openness to surprise us.
