2 stars "Future Shock" that had been announced in 1983 became a work that exactly symbolized the 80 year for Hancock. And, the flow might be placed "Sound System" and reach this album. The music character at which Hancock had aimed at this time expanded width from the item of Jazz/Fusion with evolution and challenged the realization of music by the element of Hip and techno.

It might be a little difficult to catch the directionality of this album from the item of Jazz/Fusion. Having given birth to a few ditches during the creation that Hancock thinks the critic of the conception of the element of a certain kind of techno and Funk as the reason for the fact that the work of Hancock at this time gives feeling that the impression is thin compared with a past work and Jazz did not understand his music character so much oppositely might have given a difficult impression as an opinion.

"Future Shock", and the achieved Music character is an element and an inorganic comfortable element. POP that contains a certain kind of ageOr, an original sense of Hancock that flowed in that flowed. The flow was revolutionized by "Sound System" further. Hancock was absorbed in the route where the impression of the element and ethnical of the music of Africa was given to the route further. Those uniting might ..creation of Hancock at this time.. ..Music of genre that was not able to be specified at once.. have finished by indispensable Bill Laswell's working.

The title that was called "Techno Voodoo" existed in this album. It might have shown the music character that Hancock had created at that time. Uniting those music at which he had been aiming was revolutionized as a few groping and new challenges. It is ..work from which it is succeeded to flow from "Future Shock" to the album.. finished.

It does with indispensable Bill Laswell for his creation at this time at the top and various musicians are participating in the recording. The work of Hancock in the 80's is developed to this album and the fact with the flow to which the element of the flow and Funk refined further is taken has been proven by making musicians such as William"Bootsy" Collins and Mico Wave participate. And, the participation of familiar, because of "Ohio Players" deep Sugarfoot also brings some beautiful color background to to this album. And, DJ's DST is indispensable existence for the work of Hancock at this time.

The flow from "Future Shock" might be drawn as the entire impression of the album. The element that this album contains might certainly be an element of a certain kind of techno and Funk. However, the listener will be able to feel the fact that the part of message and his style by the music of something appears remarkably without fail without offering music to which it simply listens to the work of Hancock easily including the former work in the work obediently.
