ELEPHANT9 WITH REINE FISKE: PSYCHEDELIC BACKFIRE II

Volume I had just the Elephant9 guitar-less trio. Guitarist Reine Fiske is added here and he mostly plays along without getting in the way. It beefs up the texture but I have a feeling I wouldn't have missed him if he weren't there. As with Vol. 1, fantastic playing and the ideal thing for those who want to let everything go, get in the groove and let the flow of these voluminous jams take you away. Unfortunately, I'm terrible at that kind of thing. The last track is my favorite, with Deep Purple-like riffing, a hot Fiske solo spot, a crisp 5/8 section, and a slam jam over the Hot for Teacher groove.
