5 stars I am in New Zealand waiting for my copy to arrive. Then all of a sudden it is on spotify. I can't help myself, I have to give it a listen, then a second and then a third. It is a long time since I have felt like this. I am writing but the addiction for another listen is prevalent. I enjoyed the first disc on first listen but felt a little bit indifferent about in another lifetime. The same with the second disc. It's Peter Nichols voice and the dark atmosphere and the heaviness of the keyboards. The second listen brought it home with the changes of pace and clever lyrics that all of a sudden allow you to make your own take on the feelings of desperation and solemnity. This will be one of the best of this year and many years before it. It has the fresh modern sound you would not expect from these seasoned musicians. All I can say is that this serves the recognition that Opeth and Tool have received and more.
