5 stars I could not imagine any progressive music lover don't find something for him on this record.

I once heard about Bainbridge/Iona 5 years ago and, since then, I have bought a lot of their materials (easily available on their web site).

I was expecting a lot for "Veil Of Gossamer ", and I've obtained a lot more?

The first thing that comes to mind listening to the CD is that he's such a talented genius : he's a outstanding composer and performer? It's hard to believe that he's not as known as others. It said here that he's a crossover progressive but it surely not completely true. I would have said Eclectic and folk progressive. But one think for sure is that he tries lot of different style. Lots of his friends are there and help him creating various numbers.

So, after a short introduction, "Over the Waters" gives the pace to what will follow ? it is typical of a Bainbridge number: lots different instruments, full sound, beautiful voices. I was wondering how he will be able to keep this level through out the record, but he will ! David Bainbridge will go from acoustic folk numbers as the title track, to quasi-symphonic epic as "The Everlasting Hills", to catchy crossover song "Until The Tide Turns" (featuring Iona's magnificent voice of Johanne Hogg and Troy Donockley's pipes), to exciting electric guitar number "The Homeward Race" (available on this site) as Frank Zappa would have made with Bainbridge now-typical sound (We can find some link with well known guitarist be he does have its own sound). In case we don't have enough yet, he brings us another epic : "Star-Filled Skies".

There is absolutely no weak part on that record, no flaws. David Bainbridge shows that he must stands among the today's greatest musician, composer and producer.

A very well deserved full 5 stars?
