3 stars Maglev, this little known band and gone under the radar in prog circles, taken the name from the head of the band Joost Maglev, released this first album in 2016. Well, I like what I've heared here, in same direction with Queen , A.C.T., Asia, a kind of pomp prog with AOR touches, the result is quite intresting and a damn well played album from start to finish. Maglev is a dutch musician responsable for contribution in bands like Equisa or Galanor, but here on this debut he really shining. From the great art work and all package, the music is quite fresh and happy most of the time, but without being boring. The first tune Play the game is killer, lots of impressive guitars made by one of Holland top guitarist around Sebas Honing and some top keyboards added in the mix, make from this track one of the most intresting AOR/prog pieces I've heared in years. The rest of the tunes are also great, similarities with Queen are obvious in vocal department and aswell in instrumental sections. All 5 pieces are quite long, all are over 8 min, so the band have enough space to show as that they know to handle the instruments. There are also catchy choruses, Maglev responsable for keyboards and various instruments as some vocals giving his best on this release named Overwrite the sin. Definetly , a solid release, fans of art rock, AOR/prog rock will be pleased , a winner from all sides. 3.5 stars for sure.
