HOLD YOUR FIRE

This is one of Rush's best "synth-pop-metal" albums. The feel is pretty laid back, but the lyrics are meaningful, the bass playing is awesome and Peart's ability to change tempos without upsetting the flow is truly amazing. This is a good CD for highway cruising. Songs like Force Ten, Prime Move, Mission and Turn the Page create a contemplative, positive mood. This has a very 1980's sound to it in that you experience the era's cautious optimism in the pleasant sounding chords and upbeat rhythm. This CD is a good "non-hard-core" way to expose a date to Rush. If you start off with "A Farewell To Kings", you'd scare her off. This is more of a safe, main-stream type of album.
