3 stars While not as good as their first album, Led Zeppelin II demonstrates more of the groups hard edged blues based music. For the most part, this is a heavy metal album in the earliest sense. There really is no more variety as found on their debut album and there is a heavy emphasis on guitar riffs and solos here. However, the band does sound very very good (especially Bonzo and JPJ). Its a very cohesive album through and through but just does explore all too much musically and thankfully the boys would move away from this in their next few releases. There are some wonderful blues based jams on this album but all in all it to me is just too much of the same throughout.
