![]() Right from the first song, Jordrok, you have the feeling that you deal with a bunch of extremely talented musicians that have all the right to stand in the shadow of King Crimson...cos its obviously the main source of inspriarion....although sometimes I also tend to recognise some Yes....perhaps deu the use of the Rickenbacker bassguitar....which sound is so characteristic. The other instrument worth mentioning is ofcourse the Mellotron...long associated with Anglagard....the Mellotron is sometimes literly splasking of your speakers.....and then used extremely suddle as a background....especially the more quite pieces where mellotron and flute is going together like the end of Jordrok is extremely beautifull. The overall sound is bombastic....dynamic...and the somgs are all quite long....lots of improvisations and long spinned out improvisations...Its sometimes like every musician gets his moment to shine and solo a bit..and that they tied all this solo's together and turned that into songs..... All in all is Hybris an incredible treat to listen too....but that that goes for every Anglagard album.....its so bad they only made 3 of them....so I wouls say that all 3 belong in your collection.......
