SOLAR MUSIC - LIVE

Mainly instrumental live set in the space-rock vein. Fans of Steve Hillage's solo work, or early Pink Floyd, you will love this music on first hearing and it will become one of your favorites. The only potential roadblock I can see for some people would be the vocals, which are very, ah, "German"... but that's only a few minutes of the whole album, so you shouldn't let it get in the way, and the "singing" (if you can call it that) is in fact awesome and occasionally dead-on hilarious. Once the pure music begins, it doesn't let up until the final seconds. Check out the fifth track "Otto Pankrock" which is where they really hit their stride: searing dual guitar workouts, cosmic synths and keys, endlessly stomping rhythm section grooves... all the necessary good stuff. In any case, this is without a doubt one of the great live albums, so soak it up and enjoy.
