4 stars For those that wonder what would happen if you mixed Dark Side era Floyd, Fly By Night era Rush and Point Of Know Return era Kansas into a blendar, pick this one up. I may be sentimental, as this is the first Rolie-fronted Journey album I owned, but I think it's just slightly behind the eponymous album as the band's finest progressive effort. I would rate it higher than Look Into The Future, because I feel the compositions (musically) are a little stronger, and Schon's playing is featured heavily on almost every track. I love Schon's playing on People. It's the band's best song since Of A Lifetime. It would be even better as an instrumental, as I think Rolie was a little lazy on this one vocally and lyrically. In fact, the lyrics are what let this album down. Also, the insanely good Cookie Duster was left off for some odd reason (finally released on Time3). Anyway, buy this album to hear some of Schon's best playing on a Journey (or Santana) album and download (leagally of course) Cookie Duster to make it complete.
