3 stars "Seven Secrets" is the second full-length studio album by Northern Ireland, Belfast based progressive rock act Fruupp. The album was released through Dawn Records in April 1974. Itīs the successor to "Future Legends" from October 1973.

stylistically the material on the 7 tracks, 45:59 minutes long album continues the classical music influenced progressive rock style of the debut album. when the band show that face they often remind me of early 70s Genesis but also orther 70s progressive rock artists like Beggars Opera, and Greenslade. Fruupp have a heavier and noisier blues rock/psychadelic rock oriented side too though, which is rooted in the late 60s Britisk blues rock/psychadelic rock scene and artists like Cream and High Tide. "Seven Secrets" is however first and foremost a progressive rock album, and the listener is treated to adventurous song structures, dynamic songwriting, and decent quality musicianship.

The album is relatively well produced, but itīs not a sound production which is up to par with the best contemporary sound productions. Try and compare this to the sound production gracing an album like "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" by Genesis, which was released just a half year down the line from this, and there is a huge difference in details, clarity, and sound.

When that is said "Seven Secrets" is still a decent quality progressive rock album, and if you enjoyed the first album from Fruupp youīll pretty surely appreciate this one too. A good if not exactly spectacular progressive rock album this one and a 3 star (60%) rating is warranted.
