4 stars Just for a little history, I recently bought a turntable that I can connect directly to my computer, so I can create digital copy of my old vinyl albums.

Thus, the conversion of this rare Le Orme LP. It allows me to listen to it again after many years. I bought this LP as a second hand copy in a small record store (don't even remember the name or street) in Greenwich Village during my very first trip to New York City back in 1983.

Because this is the first review of this album, what is this strange thing containing songs with English titles that we never heard about?

It's simple: All songs from "Contrappunti" are with their original Italian titles, while the songs from "Uomo Di Pezza" and "Felona E Sorona" have their titles translated into English.

My copy of this LP is from an obscure label called "Peters International" located on the 54th street NY city. My guess is that it is probably a compilation made to introduce Le Orme to the American Market back in 1975.

- There is 2 songs from Uomo Di Pezza: Alienation (original title: Alienazione) and The Closed Door (original title: La Porta Chiusa).

- 2 songs from Felona E Sorona: Picture Of Dawn (original title: Ritratto Di Un Mattino) and Return To Oblivion (original title: Ritorno Al Nulla).

- 4 songs from Contrappunti: Contrappunti, Nocturno, Aliante and Maggio.

Now, what can I say about this?

Globally, it is a very good compilation of Le Orme simply because it comes from their 3 mid-seventies masterpieces. The only critics that I can make to the choice of songs is, because my favourite album is Contrappunti, I would have choose "India" and "La Fabbricante D'Angeli " instead of "Nocturno » and "Aliante". But this is just a matter of personal taste.

If you don't know this band and if by any chances you find a copy of this vinyl (I don't think it has been released in CD), buy it right away. It will show you what this extraordinary band produced during the peak of their career. Of, course my recommendation is not to look for it but instead, get the 3 afore mentioned albums. For me, Le Orme is not only one of the best Italian prog band buy also one of the best prog band ever.

However, if you are a fan of Le Orme and already have these albums, forget it. The art work is very average, there is no special insert and regardless the strange English translation of the titles there is nothing for you here.

Rating: 4 stars.
