3 stars Another live TD winner.

Another live album showing Tangerine Dream to be great live improvisors and composers, this features four long pieces. While each of the four are musically compelling, Tangerine Dream are starting to use drum machines to a greater extent and they infuse parts of the tracks here with them. This tour occurred shortly after they recorded the album Stratosphear, which featured more traditional chord progressions and time signatures, and those creep a bit (but only a bit) into some of these compositions. While both "Cherokee Lane" and "Desert Dream" are great virtually the whole way through, I find parts of "Monolight" and (particularly) "Coldwater Canyon" to be not sufficiently musical, and have to skip those parts. But the rest of those tunes are still very good, and on the whole I would recommend making this a part of your Tangerine Dream collection (definitely better than Stratosphear and most studio albums that would follow). I give it 7.0 out of 10 on my 10-point scale, which translates to 3 PA stars.
