2 stars Here is a quick timeline of the Doors according to me. The first album is out on the edge and simply amazing. The second album is still excellent but not quite as edgy. The third album is still excellent but mellow and relatively simple. Then we come to this album (The Soft Parade) and The Doors almost deserve a new name. How about 'The Elevator Doors'. A daring fusion of good ole Doors music and elevator music. Somebody decided the Doors needed some added horns and orchestration. Now don't get me wrong horns and orchestration can sometimes be great, but not mixed with Doors music. Thanks anyways. The big hit song (Touch Me) sounds to me like the Doors got together with the Carpenters. Sure it's catchy, but ultimately pretty bad. The only track here with any edge at all is 'The Soft Parade' but it's still not very good in my estimation.
