4 stars I think this is a fine album. Having heard many comments to the contrary, eg "this is the one where the band really lost it", "they broke with the past and went off in a jazz direction" etc, I approached it with some trepidation. I find it to be a natural evolution from Chocolate Kings. But where Choco Kings was a bit broody, romantic and depressing, the guys seem to have been in a really good mood when the recorded this one, and there is a big jazz (fusion) influence. Which is not a bad thing, to me. Whether you will like this or not depends on how you like Bernardo Lanzetti's voice. I do, quite a bit, in fact I like his work all the way back to Acqua Fragile...brilliant! The playing on this album is top notch. Still, I don't give it the essential, classic, masterpiece status of their first three albums. There is just something very beautiful, unique, even naive, and very Italian sounding about the first three that elevated these guys into prog sainthood, and it is missing here.
