EGE BAMYASI

Talking about Ege bamyasi Okraschoten-this was my first CAN album from my collection. I've heard about this band for a few time ago and I was getting very curious to finally push the play button. Well, what can I say? Nothing special. I enjoyed the unique style of the band only later when I put my hands on Tago Mago. Finally I could make an analogy. Don't get me wrong: from the first album they had made, the band is unique in the world of prog rock. After the release of Tago Mago, Czukay & co. had become a little bit less psychedelic and controversial. The first track-Pinch-is boring, being dominated by the reciting voice of Suzuki and the same drum beat. Sin Swan Song is quite pleasant and shows a more melodic side. One more night is a sample of german mid-70 slow rock. Vitamin C is typically CAN, especially Damo Suzuki's refrain you're losing/you're losing your Vitamin C. And here comes the psychedelic part with Soup. After a silent beginning, the middle part is showing again the chaotic drum and Suzuki's psychedelic voice. I,m so green is another mid-70 german rock common track. The last one Spoon is almost a hit-single and a good Okraschoten finale. Good refrain, warm voice...Suzuki knows very well when to yell, when to sing warmly and when to recite endlessly and this is, for real, a high mark for him.

Not bad, but unfortunately nothing special with this album. 3 stars!
