4 stars Yesterday I bought the new VDGG's album and I've heard it three times. No doubt that's the best VDGG album since Still Life. It's strange that Hammill in is long solo carreer has never reach the level in his songs as those played with this guys (in his 3 masterpieces played VDGG memebers). Yes, there's not Jaxon's sax, but in 2007 tour we have seen that thanks to the great work of Hugh Banton the old song can be rearranged and well played. Trisector has 9 pieces, 2 (Lifetime and All that before) just played last year and represented very similar in the cd. The first track is the instrumental The Hurlyburly, nothing special, as the 2 cd of Present. Also Interference Patterns is only a good song, but with The Final Reel we can reach hoghest level: a ballad that could be in a Hammill's solo Album (Clutch), but played and arranged by Vdgg!!!! Lifetime is a splendid ballad and Drop Dead is similar to Nutter Alert, but more dinamic. Only in a Whisper is the last calm track of the album, than is a crescendo: the sincopatic All that before and the masterpiece longpiece of the cd Over the Hill a classic Vdgg that we have never had since Childlike!!!!!!! We are not here is the logic splendid conclusion of the album. In conclusion we have 3 old men in very very good form: Peter Hammill with is always splendid voice and a good work on guitar, Guy Evans on drums that is come back his 70's level, after the not entusiastic performance in Present and in 2005 tour, and Hugh Banton, that now plays for 3: organ, bass and flute and sax line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 29th march i'll be in rosignagno to see their show, and i'm sure it will be very and very great
