4 stars This massive triple live LP from Yes is an excellent collection of live recordings of the band during their 1972 tours, featuring all of 'Close to the Edge' as well as the best stuff from 'Fragile'and the 'Yes Album', with decent enough sound quality, but at least you get to hear Yes' incredible performance at its rawest best here. Two of the songs, 'Perpetual Change' and 'Long Distance Runaround/The Fish' features the Fragile/CTTE line up with Bruford on drums (before he shortly after left to join King Crimson), a highly enjoyable opportunity to hear the tightness of this line up live, just like displayed on the studio albums. The rest of the tracks feature Alan White on drums, who despite having almost no time to learn all these songs after Bruford left, does an excellent job playing them all here, albeit in a rockier style than Bruford, and became a permanent member of the band after this. While the sound quality is OK, its still a great live album that is highly recommended to fans of this band and a very good introduction to Yes if you don't know where to start with them. Vinyl hounds could also track down the original 1973 pressing of 'Yessongs' with the amazing double gatefold sleeve painted by Roger Dean in all it's glory.
