5 stars In my unpopular opinion, this may the single greatest album ever. It stuns me each time I listen to it, a complete and rewarding piece of music. I didn't like it the first two or three times I listened to it, which in my opinion is its only drawback. I love it more each time I listen to it, and it would be the last album with me on a deserted island. I would probably go insane from listening to it too much. The compositions are precious and intricate, and compared to other Gentle Giant albums it is a bit minimalist. I think the heightened sense of complexity on later albums actually took something away. I would have loved if Gentle Giant had did another record like this one, but they were always trying to push the boundaries, and not sound the same as they did on a previous release. I do find that In a Glass House invokes some of the mood from this release, but it's no clone.
