THE BEST OF KAYAK

I don't understand why this compilation is so lowly rated (must be because it's just 4 ratings). Because this is the best of and Kayak is not really a bad band I think. To me it's ok to have this "best of" because I'm not a real fan so I wouldn't want to buy all their albums although I do possess quite some vinyls of them. But that was in a time prog wasn't yet my totally explored area.

All the classics by this band are on it and so they should on a best of. My alltime favourite is Merlin, a song with a cracking guitar solo towards the end. Other brilliant tracks are Phantom of the night and Starlight dancer. Ruthless Queen is in fact the best known track for the general public in the Netherlands. It's a nice ballad but not my personal fav.

Other nice songs are Want you to be mine, Seagull and Irene. So enough enjoyment here. I give it 4 stars (3,75).
