3 stars What went wrong I wonder. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Opeth fan, but there's just something missing from Deliverance that I just can't put my finger on. To me it sounds like the two middle tracks are fillers. A Fair Judgement has just never done it for me. And By The Pain I See In Others, well, even Mike himself doesn't like it. Such a shame since both the title track and Master's Apprentices are amazing tracks, and Wreath not too far behind. I think that these three songs could have somehow found a way into Damnation and merged, but this album just seems very incomplete. Still, a worthwhile listen and some great tracks that still live up to Opeth's name, but just not up to the high standard set by the previous two albums.
